To reach a good level of cross-cultural communication, one of the first requirements is to speak a common language.
If English is the corporate language it might be a good idea for your company to provide opportunities for English language training.
For Westerners it is invaluable to study the Chinese language if you work in China. Chinese culture and Chinese language are strongly intertwined. In learning the language you will learn about the culture. This is a first step to show your commitment. After gaining insight in the system of the Chinese characters and the language you will find yourself in a more comfortable position in China.
We developed the one-day workshop: ‘The Chinese Language Code: substructure of corporate culture in China’ (For dates see Courses in English and Dutch).
In this workshop you gain insight in the structure of the Chinese characters. You will immediately be able to recognize some characters. You learn to construct simple sentences and to ask questions. You become acquainted with the Chinese language as a system and the impact of it on thinking and acting. You learn about the impact of Chinese language on corporate culture and management. You receive some useful tips to work efficiently in China. In this intensive day you go from layman to someone with insight. After gaining insight in the Chinese language you will look at doing business in China in a different way. This is a crucial tool that will help you in your assignment in China.
Participants receive a syllabus and CD-rom.
If you are motivated to engage deeper in Chinese language study, we can discuss the various possibilities with you.
Efficient cross-cultural communication is however not only about language. It is about body language, communication patterns, about cultural influences on internal and external corporate communication.
Cross-cultural training will help you to gain insight in what is going on underneath the surface. Please see Courses in English and Dutch for the one-day workshop ‘The Essence of Doing Business with China’.
